Chinese and East Asian Music: The Future of the Past

It will be hold as part of the 2009-2010 edition of the Belgian Europalia festival, which will be devoted entirely to Chinese music and culture during a period of four months. For CHIME, there will be an impressive programme with over 60 presentations supplemented with many concert performances and workshops.

Regarding the guqin, here is a preliminary list of related conferences:

  7. YANG Yuanzheng on Demystifying the Golden Age Craftsmanship of Qin Making

Of course, there will be a guqin concert, scheduled for the evening of Nov 18th, including: Ding Chengyun and Fu Lina who will play unheard-of duets for qin and se; Lin Chen (disciple of Lin Youren) who will play classical pieces as well as newly composed qin songs accompanied by singer Gong Linna and Wang Hua on bamboo flute; Liu Xing who will play qin repertoire on zhongruan; and Luca Bonvini performing John Coltrane on qin.
